                             Notes from the arena champ.

From the Throne of Bonsur, By Anzai Muro, Duelmaster

Perpetual glory belongs to no warrior.  It merely rests, for a time, in the hands of 
one judged worthy to carry it.  I take honor in holding it today.

Koolaid earned my respect long before we crossed blades. A 16-6-1 Duelmaster does not 
arrive at the throne by accident, and I expected a long contest between skilled 
warriors. Instead, fate opened a single door. My blade found his kidney with a massive 
strike, and I stepped forward to finish what had begun. Koolaid chose wisdom over 
pride and yielded the title. Some will say the fight ended too quickly. I say a duel 
ends the moment one warrior understands the outcome.

Today the title, crown and honor sits with me.  Tomorrow it may belong to another.  
Such is the way of Bonsur.

I am only the newest guardian of a legacy that stretches back over 40 years.

The Ninjas have walked these sands longer than many managers have played this game.  
Longer than some have lived.  Shocking Toad (7-310) now in Primus laid the foundation 
through perseverance that bordered on stubbornness. He endured losses, learned from 
each, and eventually carved his name among the legends of the Isle. After him came 
Jakuchu Ito, also in Primus, the street-born swordsman whose rough speech concealed 
one of the finest blades in Alastari. After that we saw our brother Satoshi Kuno off 
to the Isle.  He fights routinely to this day.  Win or lose, he gets on the sands.  
Next came our female Slasher, Ishinomori, disciplined, deadly, and precise, reminded 
us that mastery is earned one lesson at a time.

I stand where they once stood.

Another of our brothers now takes his own place in history. Go Asai, Tournament Victor 
and gentleman of the Ninjas, has received his invitation to the Isle of the Eye. His 
skill has always been matched by his character. He carries himself with dignity, 
treats worthy opponents with respect, and understands that victory should never 
eclipse honor. The Isle will suit him well, and I have little doubt he will 
distinguish himself there. I hope to join him before long.

Our younger brethren have not yet found such success. They struggle, as we all once 
struggled. The arena is an unforgiving teacher, and talent alone is never enough. 
Defeat leaves scars, but scars become wisdom for those with the courage to continue. 
We have faith that their footing will come, and when it does, the next generation of 
Ninjas will be every bit as formidable as those who came before.

To the warriors of Bonsur, thank you for making us sharper with every challenge.

To those who seek the Sword of Swords, I welcome your challenge.

Bring your finest steel.

The Ninjas have guarded this legacy for decades.

We have no intention of surrendering it now.

                                      SPY REPORT

Hello!

     So here we are looking at turn 1072 of Bonsur Arena.  I want to thank Anzai Muro 
for a great DM Column.  Hmm, no one was killed in the arena today.  But there's just 
one turn left for three of the pending bloodfeuds.  Stalwart killed Luke in turn 1069, 
but he isn't around to be feuded.  Eigenvector killed To The Wall, and he, too, isn't 
to be found.
     Aki Genji killed Indigo Wasp, and he was here and fighting.  AKI GENJI (7-7585) 
(5-5-1,30) of NINJAS fought VENUS (7-7581) (6-10-0,28) of CHAOS KIDS.  AKI GENJI was 
devastated by VENUS in an exciting 1 minute uneven duel.  I see that the Sentinels, 
Indigo Wasp's team, didn't fight today.  One chance left.  Oddly, Ninjas avoided Chaos 
Kids, but they met in a random match.  Venus was the most avoided, too.
     The Lady killed Jazmo in turn 1070.  She's still, but not fighting anybody from 
Philanthropists2.  RUSTY HINGE (7-7543) (21-10-0,95) of CHAOS KIDS fought THE LADY (7-
7511) (14-24-1,87) of REAVERS.  RUSTY HINGE outwaited THE LADY in a popular 10 minute 
gruesome expert's duel.
     Last turn, Tempus slew Shyrix.  TEMPUS (7-7560) (7-2-1,66) of FACE OF CHAOS 
fought GIOVANNA (7-7500) (7-2-0,50) of BUNION SQUAD.  TEMPUS devastated GIOVANNA in a 
1 minute mismatched bout.  By Shyrix's team, Of Wolf & Tempe, didn't fight this turn.  
Has bloodfeuding gone out of style?
     There were just 16 fights today.  At least I didn't see any stand-ins, and there 
were four challenges.  And we have a new team, at least I think it's new.  Welcome, 
Kosa Legion!
     Only five out of ten styles were present on the sands today.  I didn't see a 
Basher, a Parry-Strike, a Wall of Steel, a Parry-Riposte, or a Striker.  I wonder why 
not.
     Oh, and congratulations to Odd Squad for their 4-0-0.
