TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Race for the Crown Turn 2 Report!

Three teams decided not to fight in turn 2: Soup du Jour, Twilight, and Final
Wreckoning 2. Looks like Otis missed the turn, but might be likely to continue in the
contest. I don't know if Final Wreckoning 2 or Twilight dropped out or just missed the
turn like Otis did.

On that note, Khorvinus had a verified RSI error, so their three (3) warriors that
missed turn 2 (806) will not be docked for the endurance award. His floor will now be
97 fights or 95% of total fights, whichever is higher.

I still don't know who runs Twilight, and they've been very silent on the whole
shebang. They also didn't run in turn 2 (806), so it may be a moot point. I did get
confirmation, as many of us suspected, that Garfield runs Arena Felines!.

On to the fun stuff! Well for one of us anyways. Stroptop of Howlin Sharpens won first
to Adept and now has a Zap to apply to any of his contest warriors as he desires. On
this note, it has come to my attention that Initiates and Challenger Initiates cannot
challenge the Duelmaster, no matter how close in proximity, arena rank-wise, they are
to the Duelmaster. This means that with a win against an NPC, Stroptop will also win
Challenger Adepts. Of course assuming Howlin Wolf shows mercy and down challenges to
give the rest of us plebes a chance.

The most avoided team is still Superior Forces RftC, so they have 2 points toward this
prize. Tapioca Flour of Gluten Free ended up being the most challenged and now Gluten
Free has 1 point toward the most challenged prize. Only five warriors (out of eight
regular kills last turn) were bloodfeuded this turn, and only two of the bloodfeuds
were successful. Nobody was killed in a bloodfeud fight. This means that 5 teams
currently are the most bloodfeuded at one bloodfeud apiece. Meanwhile, we have a real
race for best team record. Big Trouble is currently in the lead at 8-2-1, while Axe
Grinders and Alfredovision(tm) are right behind at 7-3-1. Yuppie Hoard is pretty close
too at 7-3-0 and we have thirteen teams at 6-4 with a variable number of kills. It is
still anyone's race.

Currently Stroptop is holding the most sequential duelmaster titles at 2 and Howlin
Sharpens has 6 points toward the most arena awards with Decisions 2 (3), Big Trouble
(2), Satan's Kingdom (2), and Arena Felines! (1) following close behind. Howlin
Sharpens also has the most contest prizes won at 2. All of this could change as the
contest progresses.

Fourteen deaths, and only four of them were dark arena deaths. This is turning out to
be a very bloody and deadly contest. I expect to see way more than five bloodfeuds
this next turn. That said, only four warriors were sent to the dark arena, and none of
them broke the dark arena rule, so thus far, all 215 warrior slots are in play for the
endurance awards. We did see a new dark arena warrior, Arenamaster Tykor.
Additionally, in turn 805 we saw one NPC fight Tapioca Flour named Scumorama and
Stroptop fought this week's NPC named Toodles Enslaved!. Riff-Raff, someone stole your
tag-line!

Moe & Moe each fought this turn, and they each did the opposite they did last turn
(against one another), but they fought different foes this time. In either case, Moe
and Moe are both 1-1. How long can this eponymous pair keep being the same in some
fashion or another?

My next guess? Lots of blood on the sand, lots and lots of blood! Blood! I love blood!

Clarification: If you send one of your dead warriors from this contest to the dead
tourney at the end of October, and they get their TV or TC and are resurrected, they
will be allowed back in the Race for the Crown contest at no penalty to their team for
the best team record or endurance prizes. That said, the DA rules still apply and if
you need to clear room for your newly resurrected warrior, make sure it is from a
warrior slot that can be DA'd immediately.

Chapter Three: The Road South
Of Wolf & Savage

The village disappeared behind them before the sun had climbed very far above the
mountains. Fenra walked near the front of the group, her short spear resting across
one shoulder, Aric followed close behind with his battle axe, watching the land around
them. Dorrin and Shadowfur walked together, as they usually did, while Ulric stayed
toward the back, Tripwire moved ahead of them all as if he already knew every mile of
the journey.

The cold wind followed them out of the tundra, but it slowly weakened as they traveled
south. The hard ground changed to dirt and dead grass, and the mountains began to
disappear behind them. Fenra had spent most of her life in the north, she did not
like leaving it. The southern lands were places she had only heard about from traders
and dying soldiers. Crowded cities, soft people, human armies and arenas where
warriors fought for gold while others watched from the safety of wooden seats.

Now she was walking toward one of those cities because a stranger had promised her
clan weapons, gold, and a chance to fight. She looked at Tripwire's back.

"How much farther?"

"To Dullens?" Tripwire asked.

"That is where you said we were going."

"Two days. Maybe three."

Aric grunted. "You said that yesterday."

"Yesterday we were still in the north."

Ulric gave a quiet laugh from behind them. "He answers questions without answering
them."

Tripwire glanced over his shoulder. "That is because most questions do not deserve a
proper answer."

Fenra did not laugh, she still did not trust him. Tripwire had appeared in her
village through a twisting portal of light, speaking calmly while every warrior around
him reached for a weapon. He had offered them a life beyond the frozen lands, but he
had never explained why he wanted five orcs from one small clan. He claimed he needed
fighters and that he could make them rich and while those things might have been true,
Fenra knew that men who offered gifts usually expected something in return.

By late afternoon they reached a narrow road running between dead trees. Tripwire
stopped beside a broken stone marker and looked toward the woods. "We camp here
tonight."

Aric looked around. "There is better ground farther ahead."

"There is also a patrol on that road."

Fenra studied him. "You saw them?"

"I felt them."

Ulric tilted his head. "How many?"

"Six. Maybe seven."

"Human?"

"Mostly."

Aric tightened his grip on his axe. "Mostly?"

Tripwire turned away from the road. "We are not looking for trouble."

They made camp beneath the trees. Dorrin gathered wood while Shadowfur searched the
surrounding area. Fenra watched Tripwire sit beside the small fire with his hands
resting on his knees. Even with his eyes closed, he never seemed completely relaxed.
Ulric sat across from him and poked the fire with his quarterstaff.

"You have brought many people through those portals?"

Tripwire cracked an eye open, "Enough."

"And how many survived the trip?"

"All the ones I brought through."

Ulric looked at him with his one good eye, "That was not my question."

Tripwire opened his eyes, "No," he said. "It was not."

The fire snapped between them. Fenra noticed something near Tripwire's boot, a thin
black stain that covered one of the stones, it looked like mud or spilled oil, but
there was no smell, the ground around it was dry. She blinked and the stain was gone.
She looked towards Tripwire who hadn't moved, saying nothing.

The next morning, they continued south. Small farms began appearing beside the road,
and the land slowly became greener. People watched the orcs from behind fences and
windows and some looked afraid while others looked angry. A few children followed
them until their parents pulled them away.

Dorrin noticed the looks and spat into the dirt, "They have never seen orcs before?"

"They have," Shadowfur said. "They just prefer seeing us from far away."

Aric looked at Tripwire, "You said the southern people would accept us in the arenas."

"They will accept anyone who makes them money."

"And if we do not?"

"Then they will find someone else to watch."

Fenra said nothing, she had expected the southern lands to be different, but not this.
She had seen the same looks in the eyes of men who came north to trade. The
difference was that now she and her warriors were the ones being taken somewhere.
Near midday they stopped at a small roadside town. The buildings were packed close
together, with dirty snow piled against the walls and Tripwire led them into a crowded
tavern. The moment they entered, the room became quiet.

The tavern keeper stared at the orcs, then at Tripwire, "Trouble?"

"Not unless you charge too much for food," Tripwire said.

The keeper looked at the weapons hanging from the orcs' belts, "You bringing them into
town?"

"They are with me." The keeper seemed even less comfortable after that, but food was
brought out. Fenra sat with her back to the wall, keeping her spear between her
knees, Aric watched the room while Dorrin and Shadowfur ate without speaking. Ulric
studied the people around them, a man at the next table had been staring at Ulric's
blind eye. Finally, the man stood, "What's wrong with your face?"

Ulric looked at him, "You are looking at it."

The man grinned, "You lose that eye in a fight?"

"Yes."

"Against a human?"

"No."

The man waited, Ulric returned to his meal. "What was it?"

"Something with better manners than you."

Dorrin gave a low chuckle.

The man's hand moved toward his belt, Tripwire spoke without looking up, "Sit down."
There was no threat in his voice, but the man stopped. After a moment, he returned to
his table. Fenra noticed his hand was trembling; they left soon afterward. The road
narrowed as evening approached. They passed between abandoned buildings with
collapsed roofs and black windows. Tripwire slowed near a narrow alley, "Keep
moving."

Fenra looked inside as they passed, at first, she saw only broken crates and dirty
snow, then something moved. It was small and shaped almost like a person, but its
arms were too long, and its body seemed to bend in the wrong places, a dark substance
covered its skin, shining faintly in the fading light. It turned its head toward them
and Fenra reached for her spear. The creature disappeared behind the buildings.

Dorrin started and drew his sword, "What was that?"

"Nothing we need to chase," Tripwire said.

Aric stepped closer, "It looked at us."

"Many things look at you."

"That was not an animal."

Tripwire's expression hardened, "I know."

For the first time since leaving the village, Fenra saw something like fear in his
eyes but it disappeared almost immediately. They continued walking.

That night Tripwire chose a camp far from the road, he insisted they keep the fire low
and no one argued. The sight in the alley had unsettled them.

Ulric sat beside Fenra while the others prepared their bedrolls, "You saw it," he
said.

"I saw something."

"You saw enough."

Fenra looked at him, "What do you think it was?"

Ulric rubbed his thumb along his quarterstaff, "Something that does not belong here."

"That describes Tripwire."

Ulric smiled faintly, "Perhaps that is why they know each other."

Across the fire, Tripwire turned his head toward them. Fenra could not tell if he had
heard the words. Later, when the others slept, Fenra remained awake. Tripwire sat
alone at the edge of the camp, the air around him shimmered faintly, he held one hand
in front of him, and a small thread of pale light twisted between his fingers before
vanishing and he looked toward the forest. Something answered from far away, it was
not a voice, it was a pressure in the air, a feeling that something had noticed them.

Fenra's hand tightened around her spear. Tripwire lowered his hand and stood for
several moments he stared into the trees as the feeling disappeared. Tripwire
returned to the fire and sat down as if nothing had happened. Fenra did not sleep for
the rest of the night.

They reached Dullens on the third day. The city stood behind thick stone walls, with
watchtowers rising above the main gate. Wagons crowded the road outside, and
merchants shouted while guards tried to control the traffic. The city smelled of
smoke, animals, wet stone, and too many people living too close together. Fenra had
never seen so many buildings in one place. Dorrin stared up at the walls,

"Humans build large things."

"They build large things because they are small," Shadowfur said.

Aric gave her a sideways look, "You are taller than Dorrin."

"Most things are."

Dorrin shoved her shoulder. She shoved him back, and for a moment they looked more
like children than seasoned warriors. Tripwire led them through the gates. The guards
watched the orcs closely, but none challenged them. Tripwire carried a metal token
around his neck, and one of the guards recognized it. After a short exchange, they
were allowed inside. The streets of Dullens were crowded, fighters moved through the
alleys wearing armor marked with different guild symbols, vendors sold weapons, food,
and cheap charms. Posters advertising upcoming arena matches covered the walls.

Fenra watched the fighters carefully, some looked strong, some looked frightened but
all of them looked like they belonged here. Tripwire continued through the city until
they reached a broad building made from dark stone with a large iron sign hung above
the entrance.

THE IRON COUNCIL

The building was part guild hall, part tavern, and part training house. The sound of
weapons striking wood came from somewhere inside. Tripwire pushed open the door,
beyond was loud and crowded, tables filled one side of the hall while the other held
racks of weapons and equipment, a long bar stood against the rear wall. Behind it was
a broad man with a red face, gray beard, and bottle in his hand who looked up. "Well,
I'll be damned. You finally came back with something interesting."

Tripwire smiled for the first time in days. "Otis." The man came around the bar and
embraced him with one arm, nearly spilling his drink. "You look like death warmed
over."

"You look exactly the same."

"That is because I have perfected it."

Otis looked past Tripwire at the orcs.

"And these must be the northern monsters you wrote about."

Fenra stepped forward, "We have names."

"Good! Names are easier to remember than monsters." Otis lifted his bottle, "Welcome
to the Iron Council. Try not to break anything that costs more than you do."

Aric studied him, "You are the barkeep?"

"Among other things."

"What other things?"

Otis took a drink, "Things I don't discuss before supper."

Tripwire shook his head, "He has been like this for twenty years."

"And you still come back."

"Unfortunately."

Otis laughed. Fenra noticed the way Tripwire looked at him, whatever else Otis was,
he was clearly someone he trusted, the first person he had acted that way towards.
Tripwire showed them to the barracks they would be staying in and then the training
yard behind the building. "You will train here," he said. "You will learn the rules of
the arenas and what is expected of you."

Fenra crossed her arms, "And after that?"

"You fight."

"Against humans?"

"Against whoever the arena puts in front of you."

Aric stepped closer, "You promised weapons and gold."

"You will receive both if you earn them."

Aric's jaw tightened, "We did not come south to become servants."

Tripwire looked directly at him, "No. You came south because your clan needs something
it cannot obtain in the north. I am giving you the opportunity to take it."

Fenra stepped between them, "When do we begin?"

"Tomorrow morning."

Ulric looked toward the training yard, "And tonight?"

Tripwire turned toward the bar, "Tonight, you eat, drink if you want and you learn
which people to avoid."

Otis raised his bottle, "That last one is the most important."

Fenra followed the others toward the dining area but paused near the entrance.
Outside, Dullens was beginning to disappear beneath the fading light, for just a
moment, she thought she saw a thin black shape moving across a nearby roof towards a
chimney. Fenra blinked, nothing was there. She turned back toward the Iron Council;
it was supposed to be the beginning of something new. But as she entered the
building, she could not shake the feeling that something had followed them south.

Far beneath the city, something moved in the dark. And somewhere beyond the world
they knew, something watched.

The Horse's Salt: A Detective Noir
Part 1: The Red-Clad Recalcitrant
Chapter 2: Visions of the Salt's Soul

It is not uncommon that I experience hallucinations when on the blue salts; typically
benign figments like the fluff out of a faerie tale would dance across my vision.
Sometimes I experience a sort of synesthesia, where vibrant colors would dance around
objects or places of personal, psychological weight. Today was an uncommon day.
Evadne, velvet vice gripping my cuff, led me to the back staircase where I could tell
the visions were going to be particularly macabre, not unlike the graphic splash of
liquid carnage on the sands of Dullens' arena this past cycle. Already the floor
tilted as though I were walking sidewise along a tall salted dune, while Crabby clung
to my shoulder, calmly, eating her honeyed plantains and making a mushy mess down my
cloak and mule-skin vest; an off white mash smeared across the sanguine wool reminded
me of the birthing blankets in the spring during foaling season. The sounds turned
heat waves and air currents turned swirls of color--or even the soft smell of the wind
on the small hairs of my chin or the symphony of wooden stairs and cobblestones on the
calloused soles of my gnarled, unshod feet--unfortunately distracted me from the
mellifluous figure of my ruin as her hips sauntered sinuously before me. I'd like to
say I stalked forward with a hard-boiled stride, as any man as heavy-set but hard-
carved as I. That would be a tale as tall as my current score--if that's what it truly
was--the score that is. The midden trough, filled with a sickly green cacophony of
smells--a crossfire of horrific sound--that the denizens of this infestation on Vehan
Sol land called an alley, led to a small cul-de-sac behind the guild hall with only
one way to the public streets. I shook my cuff loose of Evadne's delicate and
sensually silken, predatory grip, but not without a look askance at the bowstring lips
of hers that I was growing fonder of as the time wheeled wildly and chaotically around
us like the great eddies of the cosmos above. We rounded the corner into the public
streets of Dullens and the taste of the Sun on my grizzled visage reminded me of the
wild bergamot-laced stallion livers from my mother's dining yurt--the intense
ferruginous herbaceousness nearly stunned me.

"Are you ok?"

I winced like the great plains lion waking, stretching sinews and deadly muscle,
before growling and heading out for his next meal,

"I'm fine."

If I had been more aware at the time--dead clear as a bell--I'd have seen the common
currents all flowing in the same direction. The smells, the sounds, the tastes, the
feels, all of it, moving alongside us, following us. Or perhaps it was we that were
following them. I was not hard, cold sober, though.

I followed as we criss-crossed the cobbled streets several times, dodging morning
traffic full of wide-eyed and hopeful merchants, seeking a better haul than the day
before.

"Ouch!"

"What now?" I was getting the distinct impression that this lady was losing respect
for me, that perhaps I was not the man she truly needed to help her, see what she
could see. Whatever that meant.

"I stubbed my toe!"

She handed me a pair of oiled, well-worn, snake-skin boots, a pair that looked much
like mine, and waited, impatiently like a small child waiting to see their first
spectacle and worried they'd miss it if we took too long, as I sat on the sill of a
local tavern to put them on.

"Ouch!"

"Oh for crying out loud!"

"It shocked me!" I had quickly looked up and saw a small figure, not much unlike
Crabby, duck behind a shingle labeled, "WHAT ALES YOU".

Perhaps it was the adrenaline from getting shocked, or time was not my friend, but the
strange hallucinations and twisted senses were dimming as one would expect from the
night sky once Oren, the sun, had dipped below the distant tors. The dim currents were
still evident, however, as Evadne and I continued through the streets. It felt like
wandering, but she walked with a purpose, following the colors as they wafted to and
fro like autumn leaves in a windstorm.

We moved past the arena, a small version of those same structures built throughout
Alastari, but still quite large for a town like Dullens. Large in the sense one might
get as a yearling witnessing their first room or building bigger than their cradle.
This arena, the one here in Dullens, one that was in ill-repair and dilapidated--
likely should be condemned--still sat on a full city block, and Evadne took me all the
way around it nearly back to where we started in our circumnavigation.

"There!" her excitement buzzed like those angry hornets I do my best to avoid when not
frothing like a mad-man in the arena.

"What?"

"Don't you see it?"

"Barely anymore, but I think so."

She sighed with exasperation. I was pretty sure there would be no hanky panky tonight,
unless I played my cards right.

"Are the currents of color..."

"Spirit." She corrected me. I hate when people correct me almost as much as I hate it
when they interrupt me. It happens way too often amongst my kin, and strangers? They
don't know me well enough to test the bounds of my temper, especially when on the
salts. Luckily for me, I was on the blues today.

"So, spirit then."

"Yes."

"Yes what?"

"They are going in there!"

"Yes, I see."

I did see, they definitely moved with intent; sentience maybe, I can't say. But these
spirits, as the devil woman called them, were moving into the sewers beneath the
arena.

"So will you help me?"

"With what? This isn't my sort of gig."

And there it was again, that bow-string lip quiver.

"No and no!" And I walked away.

"But..." but I wasn't listening to her any longer.

The Elven Messenger continuously repeated the Poem as per his instructions,
concentrating on the Scroll he was carrying, assured that by focusing on the Scroll
and repeating the Poem, he would be led to the whereabouts of the Veteran Manager who
was to receive the Scroll Message!

As he approached the outskirts of Dullens, the Scroll began to glow, thus signifying
that the Recipient was somewhere within the City of Dullens!

[TIME JUMP]

Hammer was slightly amused that another Dead Yuppie was among the list of 10 dead on
Turn 806, not counting the 4 that were dead from fighting by torch light in the Dark
Arena!

It was a Wasteland 13 kill, managed by TMM, that was a result of a challenge by the
unfortunate Yuppie!

Meanwhile, Neon Necromancer had scored a kill; whereas Mannequin had yet to score a
kill in Dullens!

Hammer was lounging in an obscure Dullens inn, eating a bowl of Elven stew and washing
it down with an Elven ale, when the Elven messenger cautiously approached his table.

The Elven scroll that the Elven messenger was carrying was attuned to the Elven Orb of
Transport that the Veteran Manager had secured within the folds of his Elven war
cloak, thus ensuring that no one else other than Hammer would be the intended
recipient of the enclosed message!

Hammer exchanged a gold coin for the Elven scroll and waited for the Elven messenger
to depart, before reading the enclosed message, showing no surprise from the delivered
message:

Hammer assured Tyger Shark that she was more than able to manage and train his
Abattoir Dullens stable, in case the Veteran Manager was absent from attending the
day-to-day practices in person!

This would prove to be an excellent opportunity for Tyger Shark to develop her
training skills with his Dullens stable, before the Vithicar Vendetta Hammer-Hosted
contest was to take place in the resurrected DM 49 Vithicar Arena!

The Lady Lord Protector ripper nodded as she watched the Veteran Manager reach out
with a steady, but determined finger, pressing the Rune on the Elven Transport Portal,
noting the Number 28 that was chosen, before the Veteran Manager stepped through what
appeared to be merely an Elven mirror!

[DM 49 CONTEST EASTER EGG] The DM 49 Vithicar Vendetta (beginning with the August 18,

Tyger Shark had her work cut out for her, assessing the progress of the two warriors
who had recorded wins without losses, compared to the other three, who had yet to win
on the Dullens arena sands!

Cheerful Dullens had emerged victorious from the Blood Feud challenge issued by
Khorvinus, the manager of Khors Freebooters, but he still needed further intensive
training to survive!

Tyger Shark embraced the opportunity to gain some much-needed experience in training
these five Dullens warriors in preparation for the Hammer-Hosted contest in Vithicar
Arena!

Neon Dullards

The door slammed shut as a swirl of bright, flowing robes swept in, rattling the
windows of the small office. The tall man stormed to the desk of the only clerk
occupying the ramshackle room. "I need to speak to a manager, immediately!" he
seethed.

The clerk slowly looked up from the ledger he was writing in, and casually looked the
man up and down. He had jet black shoulder-length hair, and a black goatee with gray
streaks running down from each corner of his mouth. His flowing robes were a rainbow
of bright colors, which for some reason had skull motifs worked into the fabric. His
eyebrows were scrunched together in an expression of barely held back rage. "What can
I help you with today?" the clerk said, remembering his customer service training.

"I need to know what happened with THIS!" the robed man shouted as he slammed a
parchment down on the desk.

The clerk picked up the parchment, and purposefully perused it. "This seems to be an
advertisement for gladiators. Seems timely, since Dullens is reopening the arena," he
said, looking up at the older gentleman.

"I know what it is," the man said through gritted teeth. "I wrote it. What I DIDN'T
write was your horrible misspelling of my message. It's supposed to say 'The Neon
Necromancer is recruiting for Dullens.' It's NOT supposed to say 'Neon is recruiting
Dullards.' This is inexcusable! I require smart dead people to zombify."

The clerk had to stifle a chuckle as he looked at the parchment again. "Well, it does
seem to be an understandable mistake, given the similarity of the words," he said.
"Besides," he continued, "how can a gravedigger tell the difference between a smart
dead guy and a dull dead guy? Tell you what, we will reprint it for you at no
additional charge," he said with a coy smile.

"That won't do anything!" Neon fairly shouted. "The fights start tomorrow! There's no
time to recruit a new team. I need to speak to your manager."

"As you wish," the clerk replied. He got up from his chair, and strode into the back
room. The clerk wondered how this distinguished gentleman could reach full Karen mode
so quickly. He took a moment to peruse an invoice that was being prepared, set it
down, then strode back into the front room.

"And what can I help you with, good sir?" he asked.

Neon just stared for a moment. "I still have to deal with YOU?!", he stammered.

"Well, here in Dullens, we have all learned to wear multiple hats. Jobs became scarce
when the arena closed down," the clerk/manager explained. "Hopefully, that will
improve soon."

"I don't care about the unemployment rate. I care about getting fighters, not
dullards," Neon said. "Look out the window, across the street. You see those five men?
That is what your recruitment office sent me, based on what YOU wrote!"

The Manager tilted his head to the side, looking around Neon and out the window. There
were, indeed, five men milling about. One extricated his finger from his nose, rolled
something into a ball, and flicked it to his growing collection on the wall behind
him. Another was holding a cup under a faucet, upside down. A third had a puzzled look
on his face as he tried to figure out his sword & scabbard combo. (Oh, he just cut his
palm open!) The fourth man seemed to picking lice out of the hair of the fifth one,
who was sitting simply drawing circles in the dirt.

"Yes, they do seem to be dullards," the Manager agreed. "But, as you say, the fights
start tomorrow. No time for replacements. What do you expect from us?"

"Well, first, I expect you to pay for my Dark Arena fees," Neon answered. "Those are
likely to be substantial. Second.. say, you don't know how to duel, do you?"

"I did train once upon a time. Every kid here had dreams of appearing in the grand
arena. My pa used to discourage that kind of dreaming, slapping me on the back of the
head and calling me a lunkhead for not pursuing a safer way of earning a living," he
explained.

"Well, I think I know how you can make things right for me and my team. They need
someone to train them. (When the trainer I hired saw what he had to work with, he
packed up and headed for Lapur.) Care to make some dreams come true?"

"As long as I can still be a lunkhead," the Clerk smiled.

4-1-1 to move up by 15. Perhaps it is DRAGONS members' intannibility that enabled
them to move from 38th to 20th last week... (Less time in the sun...) Thinking about
sending their team manager to the Dark Arena is YOU MUST BE BONKERS, after suffering
a 14 drop in ranking. The boys at HOWLIN SHARPENS aren't the happy-go-lucky bunch we
all know and love, after suffering a 13 drop last week. Rumor has it an incurable
disease has swept the stable of THE DULL EDGE. Note their drop in the rankings from
17th to 28th. Watch out!!! Say what you will about blind luck and dirty fighting,
but ARENA FELINES! will tell you 10-5-0 is nothing to laugh at... DRAGONS had cause
to celebrate, after GARY got 19 points by beating DADCULA. Win some, lose some.
Speaking of which, PSEUDOMONAS was winsome, after beating SOVRYK and seeing him lose
12 points. LOST POTATO FARMER found out that DULLENS isn't a democracy. You've
gotta be the best to be Duelmaster here! So who's the team that's been walking into
taverns last week and ordering milk? Sounds like a PR stunt to me.
So much to report, so little time! To quell some nasty rumors, the guys in
SUPERIOR FORCES RFTC are not carrying any incurable diseases. No need to avoid 'em.
Like a pup with its tail between its legs, DECISIONS 2 scurried away from SUPERIOR
FORCES RFTC. Oh, the shame! If challenges were horses, TAPIOCA FLOUR could open up
a fast food joint! Take heed DULLENS, of the unprincipled action of ELECTRIC
SLIPPERS. By challenging CHICKNWAFFLES, 16 points below him, ELECTRIC SLIPPERS
besmirches the noble art of dueling. ELECTRIC SLIPPERS defeated CHICKNWAFFLES. The
whole thing leaves a bitter memory. Them's the breaks, RASH. Expecting fair
challenges from YOU MUST BE BONKERS is evidently too much to ask. Yes, Virginia,
sometimes the little guy wins, as RASH proved, beating 17 point higher AUTUMN WINDS.
As a confidence booster, BUTCH BODYSNAPPER challenged ALEF, down 16 points. Do you
also slay vicious rodents in your spare time, BUTCH BODYSNAPPER? BUTCH BODYSNAPPER
won victory over ALEF with a point difference of 16. So this is what DULLENS calls a
duel. This will make an interesting tale.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Sober up,

DULLENS handily did him in. Experience counts for something on DULLENS' sands.
Death in the arena! In a cheap quest for a cheap victory, TAPIOCA FLOUR faced
EBURONIA in an uneven fight. AURIGA, we expect bloody revenge! Justice was served
as ARIC WOLFMARK fought TESTAMENT in bloodfeud. Well done, OF WOLF & SAVAGE! Never
one to advocate diplomacy and restraint, I was pleased to see OF WOLF & SAVAGE
retaliate against PLANESWALKERS in bloodfeud! Charity is unknown in DULLENS, and
rightly so. COUNTRY ROADS exacted their revenge against THE BILESTOAD. Justice was
served as BELT-LOOP BART fought CHEERFUL DULLENS in bloodfeud. Well done, KHORS
FREEBOOTERS! Never one to advocate diplomacy and restraint, I was pleased to see
DRAGONS retaliate against MALICIOUS INTENT in bloodfeud! Charity is unknown in
DULLENS, and rightly so. YUPPIE HOARD exacted their revenge against WASTELAND 13.
