                             Notes from the arena champ.

     I am honored to be here. Instead of a normal column reserved for Duelmasters, I 
shall tell you of the boss's time (1999-2000) employed by Rawlings Sporting Goods as a 
head of all operations. Making gloves and baseballs and helmets, and footballs, and 
hockey sticks and uniforms and goalie equipment and baseball bats and much else, 
within facilities in New York, Missouri, Costa Rica and Canada, it was a time of great 
pleasure and success.  
     If only the Fandil time machine yet worked.

                                      SPY REPORT

     It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last 
week's fights.  Say good-bye to GENERATION D, as they are pushed from the coveted top 
team spot by the FANDILS stable.  FANDILS is no joke as it posted a 3-0-0 week 
advancing from 2nd place to 1st place.  Hey everybody, watch out for KAREN, who flew 
up 14 points in the rankings after mashing RUTHLESS JAYWALKER like a melon.  Keep 
your eye on this gal.  And falling like a basher in the top ten was THROW THUNDER, 
who dropped 4 points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout with PENNY.  Well, 
everybody's pal RAWLINGS moved his record to 12-3-0 by defeating VETERAN MERCENARY in 
the Duelmaster's Title Bout and gaining 6 recognition points.  Can you believe they 
are paying me 10 gold to deliver this stuff?   
     Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the ARDIVENT arena.  And hey, 
kiddies, those of you who didn't avoid GREATNESS APPEALS, please raise you hand.  
Wow.  Does ARDIVENT really have that many liars?  Okay, so I may not be funny, but 
catch FANDILS' act in the arena.  Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at running 
from GREATNESS APPEALS.  Well just about everybody wants a piece of BERNICE, who was 
this week's most challenged warrior.   
     Death is kind of like a new puppy:  he's always around wanting to play.  (Ha 
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?).  The audience likes blood and there was 
plenty of it covering ROD as he was driven to an early grave by HAYSTACK of the 
BLUVALLEY WARRIORS.  Big man!  HAYSTACK kills ROD.  Who ya gonna fight next, 
HAYSTACK--Minnie Mouse?  I hope GENERATION D has a good enough fighter to beat the 
snot out of HAYSTACK.  Here's some advice:  warriors with little wit and will may 
encounter problems on the trail to the Isle.   
     Well, that wasn't too bad; Alarond told me that the people in ARDIVENT have no 
sense of humor.  Or maybe that they were senseless.  Well, there goes another Spy 
Report.  Good luck in next week's fights.  And remember, you can pick your friends 
and you can pick your--(loud boos), oh, you've heard that one already!-- The Unknown
